Tuition Fees

The average tuition fee to pursue an international Master’s programme in Europe is around € 10.170 for International students. For international Bachelor programmes this is € 8.600 for non-EEA students.

But many students are not aware of the fact that they can pursue the course for less cost or even for free, across Europe. Tuition fee less is than one thousand euro for more than 3.000 Master programmes in Europe.

Austria

In Austrian Universities, International students has to pay a study fee of about 600-1500€ per year (EUR 363.36 / 726.72 per semester).

The tuition fees for private Universities start from €1.000 per semester. Currently 17 out of 20 Universities of Applied Sciences are charging a tuition fee of €363.36 per semester.

Finland

Finland Universities won’t charge any Tuition Fee for Bachelor’s and Doctoral programmes even for Non EUA students.

Spain

In Spain, Tuition fees for Bachelor’s degrees will vary from region to region. In public universities those cost between EUR 535 and EUR 1,280 per academic year. In private universities it costs between EUR 5,000 and EUR 12,000 for a Bachelor’s programme. Master’s programmes and PhDs study fees are calculated per credit; each credit can cost between EUR 22 and EUR 34. Therefore a typical Master’s program of 60 ECTS per academic year could cost between EUR 990 and EUR 2,040 yearly.

The tuition fee for studying at a public university in Spain is approx. 1,000 EUR per year.

Sweden

In Sweden Universities, International students have to pay an application fee of SEK 900 (~100 EUR). Each university sets its own study fee that can range between SEK 80,000-140,000 (~EUR 9,000-15,750) per academic year. This fee structure is applicable only to Bachelor and Master’s programmes and PhDs doesn’t need any tuition-fee.

Scholarships

Eiffel Scholarships FRANCE

The Eiffel Excellence Scholarship Program is a flagship program of the French Government. It is ideal for overseas students who seek Master’s, Engineering and PhD degrees in France. The Eiffel Program does not cover tuition fees but scholars are given a monthly allowance, travel expenses, health insurance and accommodation allowance. Nearly 400 new scholarships are awarded every year.

It is a flagship global scholarship program of the British Government covering 1000 outstanding students, from 130 countries. Its grant covers tuition fees, monthly stipend, one-off allowances, and maintenance allowance at set rates, return economy airfare and additional funds for living expenditure. Work experience, a proven record of academic excellence, for applicants aged between 21-35 years are considered by a strict judging process. It offers a global perspective.

Scholarships are often offered for excellence in an academic subject or and talents in other fields such as sport, music or drama.

Chevening Scholarships are the UK government’s global scholarships programme. These scholarships mostly support one year Master’s degree at UK universities which helps students to become decision-makers, future leaders, and opinion formers.

Chevening Scholarships are for those who have talent and have been recognized as potential future leaders across a diverse range of fields, including the media, business, civil society, politics, religion, and academia.

LSE

LSE offers 50 scholarships to Indian students, who choose studying a Master’s program at the School. Talented students, regardless of financial circumstances can avail from £3,000 to £32,000 based on financial need. LSE offers 50 scholarships, for graduate study, for students from India.

Rhodes Scholarships UK

Established in 1902 by the will of Cecil Rhodes, when he made a fortune from the diamond firm De Beers in South Africa, the Rhodes is an old and prestigious international scholarship program. It supports talented and brilliant international students from selected countries at the University of Oxford in the pursuit of postgraduate studies. Its scope includes university fees, personal stipend, and health insurance, airfare to and from the student’s home country. 83 Scholars are selected every year. Applicants with moral integrity, academic passion, courage and devotion are awarded grants. Their age must be between 19 and 25. Rhodes is open for all disciplines, and written applications are shortlisted and then scrutinized by a panel of esteemed academicians and professionals. Optimism can help to overcome the serious and strict parameters applied.

Gates Cambridge Scholarships

Gates Cambridge Scholarships, applicable to all international students, are awarded for pursuing graduate studies and research at the University of Cambridge. It covers the total cost of studying at Cambridge namely on the heads of university fees, maintenance allowances and airfares. Nearly 100 Scholars benefit from this scheme every year.

Commonwealth Scholarships:

Citizens of either a Commonwealth country are eligible. You must be under 25, and hold a university degree.

Grants are given for one or three years and cover expenses of travel, tuition fees and living. Financial help with books or clothes and for maintaining you spouse is also available.

Dr Manmohan Singh Scholarships (UK)

Available on a competitive basis, for all courses (except medicine and veterinary science) the scholarships cover all undergraduate tuition and college fees, and a grant for living and travel expenses. Applicants must first receive a placement offer of at a Cambridge college, and scholarships are awarded

Oxford and Cambridge Society of India (UK)

The Oxford and Cambridge Society of India offers scholarships for Indian students who specify a college in one of the universities. The applicants need to already possess a degree from an Indian university.

The scholarships are available at both undergraduate and graduate level.

Edinburgh Napier University (UK)

Scotland’s Edinburgh Napier University, offers a merit-based fee reduction of £2,000, for students from the Indian subcontinent, at undergraduate and graduate level.

University of Sheffield (UK)

The University of Sheffield offers scholarships for Indian students at UG and PG level. They cover a specific subject area, and three merit-based scholarships are available for all subjects, worth £7,000 per year.

The Ireland Scholarship is a Government funded scholarship programme aimed to attract foreign English teachers to refresh their skills in English language. These scholarships cover the student’s all-expenses including flights, transfers, tuition, accommodation, food and social programmes and four-week study-trip to one of Ireland’s accredited English language schools.

To become eligible for these scholarships, one must be a qualified teacher of English and must be employed in a second or third level institution in their country. Successful applicants will be asked to submit their proof of employment and their qualifications.

Awardees are invited to attend a special event at the Residence of the Irish Ambassador, enjoy some refreshments and entertainment and learn a little about Ireland. They will also receive their own personal Username and Password, which is only available at the Embassy event in person and which you will need to apply online for the Ireland Scholarship.

Ile-de-France Masters Scholarships

Conseil Régional provides consistent funding to the universities such as Université Paris-Est. Créteil Val de Marne (UPEC) and École Centrale Paris through Ile-de-France.

To become eligible for this aid, applicants should be or below 30 and should be the aspirant to do Masters in their field of interest. Applicants from any nation can apply for this. École Normale Supérieure

Centrale Nantes

École Centrale Paris

The Ecole Centrale Paris offers 4 Graduate Fellowships of €4000 Euros each to international students residing abroad, based on the quality of their application.

Sciences Po University

Sciences Po created the Emile Boutmy Scholarships after the founder of Sciences Po in order to attract the very best international students from outside of the European Union who are applying and previously admitted to Sciences Po University. The Emily Boutmy Master’s Programme can take different forms ranging from €5,000 to €16,000 for 2 years of postgraduate study or €3,000 to €12,300 for 3 years of undergraduate study.

Swiss Government Scholarships

The Swiss Government many scholarships to foreign students to take up postgraduate studies or research at a publicly funded university or recognized institution in Switzerland. The scholarship awards a monthly stipend of CHF 1600-1920 to more than 200 students.

University of Lausanne: Switzerland

The University of Lausanne, Switzerland, offers 10 scholarships on a competitive basis, to Foreign Students from any country, who wish to pursue a Masters Degree at the University. The amount of the grant is CHF 1,600. – Per month payable from 15 September to 15 July. The grant is meant for distinguished students in university studies, and who are financially needy during the tenure of the Master’s.

ETH Zurich

ETH Zurich supports students who are excellent in education and wishing to pursue a Master’s degree at ETH. It has two scholarship programmes.

The excellence Scholarship & Opportunity Programe (ESOP) provides a special scholarship for students for the duration of their programe. The scholarship covers the full study and living costs during their Master’s degree course.

The Master Scholarship Programe (MSP) offers a partial stipend for students for their Master’s degree course. It also offers an assistantship.

Bern Masters Grants

The University of Bern Masters Grants is for international students who wish to do a Master’s Programme in autumn 2014/2015. The scholarship is offered for those who pursue Masters offered at the University.

The scholarship provides a grant of 1600 CHF per month for the duration of the Master’s programme. The Grant is first awarded for a period of 13 months. Besides the above mentioned financial aid, the Grant covers also the ordinary registration- as well as semester fees for the entire regular study period. However the awardees must pay 55 Swiss Francs per semester for administrative costs in the admissions office.

To be eligible for this, the students must be a non-EU resident. He/she should pursue a Bachelor’s degree in the relevant field of study. They should be graduated with a Bachelor’s degree no later than July 2014.

UNU

The University of Geneva and UNU share a strong commitment and aimed to enhance the capacity of individuals as well as institutions in developing countries.

The University of Geneva will offer UNU fellowships for the International Organizations MBA Programme.

UNU fellows will be mid-career professionals from developing countries (minimum 3 years relevant work experience in developing countries), who would be expected to apply their newly acquired knowledge and skills in promoting the socio-economic development of their own countries.

Scholarships are based on a combination of academic merit, financial need, and availability of funds.

Application instructions:

Applicants need to apply by 15 November to study the next year. Due to the limited number of places available, applicants are strongly recommended to submit their applications as soon as they have decided to apply.

There are many organizations in Germany that award scholarships and grants to international students. Also there are many private programs offered by business industry, politics and media.

The scholarships from the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) are good For European students from there is scholarships from the ERASMUS-Program. 8.000 Euros per year are required as an estimate.

The Federal Foreign Office of Germany offers scholarship, through the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). Generally these will go to outstanding foreign students, doctoral students, researchers, and graduates from academic disciplines or from music, art, and performing arts. These beneficiaries include a monthly payment based on academic level, accident insurance, travel expenses, and health insurance. Annually DAAD honors more than 70,000 scholars.

The Danish Government offers Scholarships under the Cultural Agreements to highly qualified students and who wish to study Danish language, design, architecture, environmental studies, and culture, or any other topic related to Denmark.

Danish government scholarships for highly qualified non-EU/ students: The scholarships are administered by the Danish institutions who handpick students to receive the scholarship. It consists of two parts and is given as full or partial tuition fee waivers, and grants to meet living costs.

Denmark government welcomes highly qualified and motivated international students from all over the world to study in Denmark. A number of scholarships offered each and every year by Danish Government and Ministry of Education to fund students from countries outside the European area. The scholarships can be awarded for a full degree higher education programme.

These scholarships cover full or partial tuition fee waivers and/or grants towards covering living costs. However, as the scholarships are administered by the individual higher education institution, you should ask for further details at the institution of your choice.

To be eligible for this, one needs to have to be:

  • A citizen of a Non EU country.
  • Enrolled in a full degree higher education programe.
  • Granted a time-limited residence permit in Denmark due to education.

Holland higher education supports financially very much and tuition fees are relatively low. There are many available sources of funding to study in Holland.

Before start checking for scholarships check if the institute you are studying has an exchange programme with a Holland institution as this is the easiest and economical way to study in Holland.

Exchange students from EU countries may be eligible to receive financial support from their home country when they’re studying in Holland. Some countries provide financial support directly or when they enroll for degree Programmes abroad.

The Holland Fellowship Programmes (NFP) promotes capacity building in 62 countries by providing education and training through fellowships for professionals within organizations.

NFP is aimed to help increase the level of competency in the staff and make them skilled in both governmental and non-governmental sectors. To be eligible for this fellowship, you need to be nominated by your employer.

After completion of your training, you will have to return to your original workplace. This makes sure that the training is embedded within the organization.

An NFP fellowship is intended to supplement the salary during the study period. It is a contribution towards your tuition fees, costs of living, travel, visas, insurance and thesis research.

The Leiden University Excellence Scholarship Programme (LExS) is intended for outstanding Non- EU/EEA students pursuing a master’s degree programe at Leiden University.

Scholarship value/inclusions:

The Leiden University is offering five Excellence Scholarship programe awards:

  • Platinum-This covers the tuition fee minus the home fee* and an allowance of €10,000 for living costs
  • Gold covers the tuition fee minus the home fee*
  • Silver Covers 75% of the tuition fee
  • Bronze Covers 50% of the tuition fee
  • Ivory Covers 25 % of the tuition fee

The maximum study period is 12 months (1-year programe) or 24 months (2-year programe).

Students should realize that the Leiden University Excellence scholarship programs are not full scholarships. Therefore, it is necessary to find additional funding to be able to finance their study and stay completely. Leiden University advises a budget, not including the tuition fee, of approx. €10,000 to €14,000 per year to cover the costs for rent, insurance, living expenses, course books and local transportation.

To be eligible for this, applicants should be Non-EU/EEA students enrolling in a Leiden University master’s degree programe.

Students who are granted a Leiden Excellence Scholarship must comply with writing their agreement with the terms and conditions (pdf) attached to the scholarship prior to the granting of the scholarship.

Application instructions:

  • While applying for admissions, indicate clearly that you would like to apply for the LExS scholarship on the scholarship section of the online application form. You should attach a letter of motivation (in Word) of a maximum of 500 words, in which you indicate why you believe you should be considered for this scholarship.
  • For programs starting in September 2014, the deadline is 1 February 2014. For programs starting in February 2015, the deadline is 1 October 2014.

Scholarships cover up to 40% of tuition for all international students who are in need with an objective to provide financial assistance in order to begin or complete their studies in Cyprus.

Need Grants are awarded to students and are based mainly on substantial financial need, regardless of academic performance. The amount of the grant provided depends upon the student’s need for assistance, but grants usually amount to less than one third of the tuition and fees of the semester. Students interested in this type of grant must complete the “Financial Aid Application Form” and submit it to the respective department of universities/colleges.

It must be noted, however, that the funds for Financial Aid are provided by universities/colleges and are limited. Students and their families are expected to finance their education and Financial Aid should be considered only as supplemental assistance.

UCLan Cyprus Scholarships

UCLan Cyprus offers scholarships for high quality students with the following Apolyterio grades:

  • 19.5- 20.00: full scholarship of 100% for the first year of study.
  • 18.5- 19.49: partial scholarship of 50% for the first year of study.

Conditions of Scholarships

Both of these scholarships can be continued in subsequent years of the course at a value of 50% of fees. To become eligible for these scholarships, students should achieve an average of 60% in their studies in each year. In addition, UCLan offers the opportunity for students with 18.5 in their IELTS 6.0 or above to complete their studies in three years through a fast track route, at no additional cost.

Undergraduate scholarships are only available for full time students.

Postgraduate scholarships are available for both full and part time students.

Scholarships are calculated as a percentage of the full fee: i.e. a 50% scholarship is 50% of € 9,950 = € 4,975.

Eastern Mediterranean University Scholarships

Eastern Mediterranean University, the most prominent and the only state university in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus is offering 50% scholarship opportunities for candidates who meet the scholarship requirements.

Eastern Mediterranean University is inviting International students wishing to apply for discounts of 50% for undergraduate programs, Bachelor Degree, Master’s Degree and Doctoral Degree programs. Scholarships are offered for all programs, excluding the Medicine Program, till the end of the course.

Foreign nationals holding Italian Government Scholarships are enrolled in First and Second Level Degree Courses, and also in Schools of Specialization Research Doctorates. The other options include Universities, Polytechnic institutes, Art and Music and conservatories, Restoration Institutes, The National School of Cinema, Archives and Museums, Laboratories, and Italian Research Centers that have fixed the agreements with the Foreign Under-graduate and Post-Graduate Universities are also eligible.

Unlike many other European countries, student loans and scholarships are equally available to students on the same basis and the eligibility criterion is merit.

Applicants for University level have to show A2 level certification in Italian language. Age limit is 35 years for this course. The stipend amount of Euro 700 per month is inclusive of Health Insurance.

Bocconi University offers scholarships to international students enrolling in any Bachelor’s Program or Master of Science Program at Bocconi. The scholarships are awarded based on their family’s economic condition.

The scholarship covers full tuition waiver worth up to $11,500 per year for Bachelor’s program and up to $12,000 per year for Master’s of Science Program.

To be eligible for this, students should be neither a citizen nor a resident in Italy. He/she should not even have earned a High school diploma in Italy or abroad.

The application deadline for this scholarship would be around January 14th of every ear.

Spanish Government Scholarships for International Students

This scholarship is for International students who pursue their Masteral and Doctoral studies in the municipality of Madrid. Students will get 600 per month plus board and lodging in one of two residence halls Foundation Halls MAEC-AECI throughout the year. Apart from this, they will also get Tuition support of up to 2,000 Euros.

Eligibility:

A University degree, a valid Passport, and a permanent email address. The candidate’s age should be below 35.

GSE Scholarships

The “La Caixa” Savings Bank Foundation and the Barcelona GSE offer 14 fully funded scholarships to students from emerging nations with excellent backgrounds.

Fields of Study:

Masters in finance and development, international trade, and Market Regulation.

These scholarships cover Tuition fees, medical insurance, round-trip airfare from the student’s country of residence, and monthly stipend for expenses during the student’s stay.

Erasmus Mundus Scholarships for Developing Countries

MBA Diversity Scholarships at ESADE Business School

ESADE also provides merit based scholarships to outstanding ESADE MBA candidates. Spanish Studies Abroad Alumni Scholarship Fund

This is for those who are excited to go abroad, and are willing to share their enthusiasm with others. Students can apply by submitting a pre-departure video, and if they got selected they can record a second video upon returning from their program.

Foreign students studying in European Union may work for up to 20 hours a week provided that the working day is compatible with their study or research commitments. In this case, an Employer who wants to hire a foreign national must apply to the Foreign Nationals’ Office for authorization. The duration of the contract may not be longer than the duration of the study visa.
